Many moons ago, I was introduced to Yoga. Becoming familiar with the many poses was less daunting because of our kind, soft spoken instructor. Over the years, the practice of Yoga has been a source of peace for my mind and body.
Recently, I was commissioned for a custom piece that would celebrate a loved one's 50th birthday. It was so thrilling to learn the recipient was also my first Yoga instructor. Because the Pleiades holds significance for her, this bold copper pendant was inspired by the Nebra Scheibe, the earliest known depiction of the Pleiades. The moon, sun and stars are silver inlay.
While graving the design in copper, it occurred to me this pendant, so full of circles, also represents the synergy of full circle. I continue to enjoy the results of my instructor's patience and instruction in the art of Yoga and hope she will enjoy the fruits of my labor for many years to come.

Burst of Color
So much fun has been had working with the various materials with these one of a kind necklaces.
Creating the custom bezel cups from sterling silver allows me to play with my favorite tool, my torch. These creations then receive the various colors and patterns selected when caning polymer clay by hand. Now to ponder will each necklace be completed? Will it be the mocha rubber cording or perhaps a soft black satin rattail, either finished with a handcrafted sterling silver closure? Maybe a sterling silver necklace of either a delicate triple rope link or small rolo link? What would you choose?

A Good Fit
Satisfaction comes from creating a piece a client enjoys wearing. Enjoyment is enhanced by comfort. A good fit brings comfort to a piece.

This custom piece will be tailored for a good fit. The ocean tumbled quartz was collected by a mother and daughter as they explored a beach during a trip to Prince Edward Island. As I narrowed the selection for the necklace, it was soothing to feel the cool, smooth stones in my hand. Images conjured in my mind of when I was one, my parents brought me to this majestic place which overflows with nature's beauty. A smile emerged as I wondered the possibility of these rocks coming from a beach my mother and I once sat together. Now a mother myself, my heart is warmed this creation will be a gift is from daughter to mother. A personal reflection of her deep love and affection. How beautiful, this commission is a good fit on many levels.
